CocoDorm
I hate porn. I’ll admit though I’ve taken some peeks at some videos in the past. But there’s something about watching porn that makes me feel filthy. Perhaps it’s the fact that the people having sex in the video have parents who love them and friends who adore them.
I open Flavalife magazine and I enjoyed reading their features and articles. I’ve even submitted some writing samples for their consideration–with no luck.
Anyways, Coco Dorm (operated by the owners of Flavalife/men) is in yet another brawl with the Health Department. I don’t give a fuck how much money you make off of videos showcasing men bare backing; no money in the world can cure any of these men if they are infected. I don’t like the powers that be at Coco Dorm and I commend Darian, Jasmyne Cannick and the other bloggers who are taking the initiative in raising awareness on what these disgusting savages are doing.
But I want to say this: these are grown men in these videos. They know what’s up. They’ve read the statistics. They’ve been solicited to free incentives in order to get tested. They have seen the campaigns, posters, and blah that “markets” HIV/AIDS as an issue in the gay people of color communites.
So I pose the question: why babysit grown men?

Because they are our brothers.
If we don’t care our own, who will?

Thank you Bernie for your response. I respect it.
Though, I think a more sophisticated and perhaps elloborate answer is neccesary.

A sophisticated elaborate answer requested, you actually asked for a definition of care and the meaning of brother, that’s amazing.
If you were drowning I would not hesitate to save you whether you were 2 or 82.
If you were in this world by yourself unto your self what point would there be to living? I never want to be drowning and need your help questioning me at the start.
My brother my self…say it with me.

Troy thanks for your comment. I’m having a hard time deciphering it though.
The Captain, you really need to grow up.

QKOC: you really got me laughing today! do you believe that men read Playboy for the articles? if you had sent Flavaworks a hot photo of your ass you would have made the next issue… no one is actually “reading” the magazine.

Ponoono: I’m glad that my posting amuses you. But I guess you’re not really following up on the controversy.
Number 1: I read the articles in Flavalife magazine, which is a non-pornographic travel and entertainment magazine. It is operated by Flavaworks the people who run CoCoDorm and Flavamen.
Number2: Flavamen magazine is the porn magazine.
Thanks.

Just because they are grown dosent mean they smart.
I know you have encountered those in our community who
have dropped out of school for whatever,or who cant even
read. Their current situation is bad. Flavaworks and
Phil used those fools ,got his money and moved on.Nah,
this is not about babysittin…this situation is about
brothas who should have had the balls to demand certain
conditions while working…like no condom,no sex scene.
But for a few dollars, and for whatever they did not.
But those mofo’s who worked knowing they was dirty
is just wrong…

As you very well recognize this is a question of ethics. It can be an analog to the Tobacco industry making billions off of a product/act that eventually causes disease and death, seemingly without conscience. I think the only way they sleep at night is retaining the fact that they have a disclaimer to hide behind.
I admire the concern and I also want to look at it from another angle that may whet our compassion and understanding. Now let’s all be honest, those of us who’ve had sex before have had, as Ricky from Noah’s Arc calls them, “slip ups”. “SLip Ups” are instances where one neglects to use a condom due to the “heat of passion”. I’m sure 99.9% of us will agree that sex is more pleasurable w/o a condom, hence the production of “extra sensitive” condoms that limit the feel of the condom’s presence, thus increasing pleasure. So really it can be said that these guys are predisposed to having sex unprotected whether in a porn or not. Because of this glaring possibility, some blame has to come off the porn industry and once again it’s going back to the measure self-responsibility in the case of STDs or anything potentially harful to one’s life.
But while all of this is valid, the bottom line is people know the facts so therefore there can’t be a claim that they were exploited. I mean like you said, it was they who signed up for it. There ARE NO “INNOCENT” participants. However at the same time we should have compassion for anyone suffering with a disease, though it kills us who love them to watch them take actions that may lead to something unfortunate. That is a “Divine” kind of compassion that I think the prophet Jesus, and literaries such as Emerson and Whitman expounded upon. (I think).

You make justicefable points.
But:
I am a virgin. I never had a “slip up”.And therefore I dont know that condoms makes people lose sensation. And those who do think this, who cares. But when you’re giving the option to wear a condom and you just so happen to have condoms yourself and choose not to wear them–that’s stupid. I think its everyone’s right to feel the natural sensation of a man’s penis. But know this: sometimes it comes with consequences.

QKOC: you need to have a “slip in” to get to the point where you have a “slip up”.

I’m all for people’s right to make porn, however there is a model who was hiv positive doing BAREBACK videos and some of the models he was having sex with (or at least one) is in the current dorm. That to me is a bit much.

Greetings, I see that some people view this issue as more pressing than others. While I do not share the sentiments of some of you, I must respect your views and opinions. I however feel as though this issue is a double edged sword and the surface discussions of unprotected sex and the media exposure is really the “smoke and mirrors” to another very important issue: ethics. I have yet to see any recent videos released where models were engaging in unprotected sex. Can someone enlighten me on this? Last I checked, since I have taken the time to view the CDPH report on the matter, none of the videos released after this report have any “raw” elements.
QKOC: I appreciate your voice and willingness to bring this matter to the attention it deserves.

“I’m sure 99.9% of us will agree that sex is more pleasurable w/o a condom, hence the production of “extra sensitive” condoms that limit the feel of the condom’s presence, thus increasing pleasure.”
I call bullshit. Only a man would utter such a callous statement, and such a statement is right up there in line with the woman-hating-line: “If you loved me you would prove it to me.”
Sex is MORE pleasureable for men than it is for women, period. And any man who refuses to wear a condom because of not wanting to protect himself/his partner from
-risk of disease
-getting a woman pregnant
is nothing but a selfish bastard.
If the woman requests the use of a condom by the man, he should have the balls to wear it. Refusing to wear a condom is the height of greedy selfish don’t-care behaviour. But, it does not surprise me that men, whether homo or hetero, refuse to wear condoms. I guess men by nature are whores, ready to lay down with the first woman that comes along, and when these same men come down with a disease, many of them do not cease having sex, but continue to open their legs, even if it means infecting more women. And, yes, some women out there can be sex pigs/fools as well. But, if a hetero woman/homo man partner asks the man to get tested for HIV/AIDS, and asks him to wear a condom, he should have the guts to do it. All it takes is just a few seconds to put the damn glove on and then you can both proceed. Yes, some women/men feel they must please the man and forego the condom, and I am sure some homos feel they must please their partner who demands to have sex without the condom. Well, that so-called partner is nothing but a selfish wretch who cares nothing for his partner. Just as a hetero can be a selfish porcine, so too can a homo be a selfish boar.
Bath houses.
Sigh.
Sad to see that the human race, whether hetero or homo, just will not learn.
What else is new.
And as for homos supposedly being more promiscuous than heteros.
I call bullshit again.
From what I’ve read of history, documented facts and narratives, heteros are the biggest promiscuous people out there.
And with what that has all been learned about HIV/AIDS in the last 30 years, you would think that BOTH hetero and homo would know the risk and danger they put themselves into with unprotected sex; but, I guess some people just don’t give a damn about themselves, or their fellow human beings.
“So I pose the question: why babysit grown men?”
And I say: “Don’t babysit grown men.”
That’s what’s wrong with men now. All these damn people, mainly women, who rush after full grown ass men never letting them grow up. Damn, you are an adult, you have the responsibility to take care of your own life and not make yourself a burden to your family, your community, your nation by being a sex porcine as if you cannot control yourself. You are supposed to be a higher life form, but, I sometimes wonder about humans as to their supposedly being so-called higher life forms.
“If you were drowning I would not hesitate to save you whether you were 2 or 82.
If you were in this world by yourself unto your self what point would there be to living? I never want to be drowning and need your help questioning me at the start.”
And I call bullshit yet again.
Drowning and being socially responsible are NOT the same thing. A drowning person in the water needs help (whether they fell off the boat, got a charley horse in their leg and couldn’t swim anymore, or got caught in a strong current).
A person who willfully and knowingly goes out to have unprotected sex is a selfish hateful person who gives not a damn about ANYONE, much less themselves.
I’d do what I can to save a drowning person in the water.
But, a person who goes out of their way to destroy themselves and all others around them by using their penis (or vagina) as a loaded, deadly diseased weapon, well, I have no sympathy whatsoever for that person.
“QKOC: you really got me laughing today! do you believe that men read Playboy for the articles?”
Hmm. Somebody must be reading the articles because they must still be putting the articles into those magazines for people to read. I wouldn’t see much sense in only putting nudie photos in and not having something to supposedly stimulate the pineal gland in the mag’s subscribers.
Oh, and ah, have a nice day.

Sometimes you have to babysit grown men too.! If it was the 80ties or 90ties, where AIDS Campaigns were all over the country and world, I would say, you are right.! But nowadays people get wrong informations, if any, and a lot of the 18-22 year olds think that AIDS is something in the pasrt, that is curable now etc. I heard these comments myself in schools and other places. Producers of these movies have to be helt responsible if any of the actors catch HIV or any other desease., plus they have to learn, that with protection sex can be as much fun on and off screen as without.
Greetings from Germany, great site!! have aHappy Halloween
