Interview with a TransMan
We rarely here about transgender male and rarely see their images anywhere. I recently did a small interview with a transman. Enjoy.
How old are you?
I am 22 years old.
How do you identify? Gay, lesbian, straight, Bisexual?
I am queer.
How old were you when you knew you were male?
I knew that I was male ever since I was six. I used to play house and I always played the husband. But even when I was younger I knew people would not understand so I kept it to myself.
When did you start making your transition?
I started to transition in the summer of 2005. I was telling the people hung out with that I was no longer an AG. That I was male. Some people understood it some did not but I really did not care. It only took me two months.
How did your family react?
My family does not like it. They feel that it puts me into more danger and they are hoping that it is a phase.
Are you planning on getting sex reassignment surgery?
I am planning on getting top surgery. I always hated having breasts. It would be nice to finally be able to take off my shirt in the summer time like most men do. I think gender is how you see yourself.
Do you think gender is mental and not decided through genitals?
I think gender is how you see yourself. Its not what society sees you or how the people around you see you. I learned a lot from the people around me but I realized who I am by knowing myself and what makes me happy. The only person who knows you is you.
Has being transgender put a strain on the people whom you date?
Being transgender has had a strain on my dating. Its hard to find women who are okay with dating a transman. They feel like it changes their sexual orientation. I am not trying to make a straight girl a lesbian or a lesbian straight. I am just trying to find my equal match in life. In a relationship I want it to be about equal shared roles. Its not about dominance and submissive I am so over that, to me its boring.
Do you hate the term “transgender”?
I do not this like the word transgender. I feel like the word help me become me. Plus I made the term my own. There are different interpretation on who is a transgender person. I am a transman who is gender nonconforming. I consider myself a trannyboy. But maybe when I grow up these words may not be the terms I call myself.

My sister’s Sweet is the tackiest sh** that has ever happened in her life. It’s on June 2nd and this girl doesn’t know what the hell she’s doing. And frankly I’m really pissed.

I hate porn. I’ll admit though I’ve taken some peeks at some videos in the past. But there’s something about watching porn that makes me feel filthy. Perhaps it’s the fact that the people having sex in the video have parents who love them and friends who adore them.
I open Flavalife magazine and I enjoyed reading their features and articles. I’ve even submitted some writing samples for their consideration–with no luck.
Anyways, Coco Dorm (operated by the owners of Flavalife/men) is in yet another brawl with the Health Department. I don’t give a fuck how much money you make off of videos showcasing men bare backing; no money in the world can cure any of these men if they are infected. I don’t like the powers that be at Coco Dorm and I commend Darian, Jasmyne Cannick and the other bloggers who are taking the initiative in raising awareness on what these disgusting savages are doing.
But I want to say this: these are grown men in these videos. They know what’s up. They’ve read the statistics. They’ve been solicited to free incentives in order to get tested. They have seen the campaigns, posters, and blah that “markets” HIV/AIDS as an issue in the gay people of color communites.
So I pose the question: why babysit grown men?
Intellecutally Sexy
After reading someone else’s blog and seeing that he was honoring Black gay men and their beauty. I, too, decided to look at the men I find sexy–intellectually sexy.
There’s something about someone who’s 24 pursuing a Ph.D that just gets me motivated.

To pierce or not to pierce?
This summer I dont have any guaranteed jobs. Aside from the fact that I’m going to be finishing up a short film-, in which I’ve employed myself. But I’m looking to get into the interview grind. But the thing is, I dont know whether or not I should pierce my ears and keep my hair braided. Job interviewers these days want you to have that professional look. And even if I dont carry the earring on my ear, I will still have the hole.
I’m tired of magnet earrings. I dont want to cut my hair.
